This Code applies to these groups of people, referred to as “Members of Southwestern University Matias H. Aznar Memorial College Of Medicine Community”: individuals who are paid by SWU MHAM when they are working for SWU MHAM, this category includes all individuals required by contract, consultants, vendors, and contractors who perform services for and/or in behalf of SWU MHAM as volunteers and those who assert and association with SWU MHAM.

Introduction

As members of the MHAM community, all faculty, staff, students, members of the Board of Trustees, Academic Officers and affiliates are responsible for sustaining the highest ethical standards of this institution, and of the broader community in which we function. The institution values integrity, honesty and fairness and strives to integrate these values into its teaching, research and business practices.

Purpose

In that spirit, this Code is a shared statement of out commitment to upholding the ethical, professional and legal standards we use as the basis for our daily and long-term decisions and actions.

Violations

Adherence to this Code also makes us responsible for bringing suspected violations of applicable standard, policies, laws or regulations to the attention of the appropriate cognizant office. Raising such concerns is a service to MHAM and does not jeopardize one’s position or employment. Confirmed violations will result in appropriate disciplinary action up to and including termination from employment or other relationships with the SWU MHAM. In some circumstances, civil and criminal penalties may apply.
